Grade 9-12/ University Preparation


1) Introduction Ontario high school system:


Students require the OSSD to enter universities and colleges in North America. The OSSD is granted to students who earn a minimum of 30 credits. Credits are awarded for previous successfully completed courses. Thus, students have to only take the courses required to obtain the remaining credits needed for graduation. To receive the OSSD, students must:


1. Complete 18 compulsory and 12 optional credits
2. Complete 40 hours of community involvement activities
3. Pass the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test or Course

 

2) Ontario Curriculum:


Elton Academy offers a diverse academic program. Strong academic, co-curricular, guidance and leadership programs give our students an advantage over many others. Through extensive counseling and flexible course planning we are able to meet individual needs.  We strive to develop an academic program suited to each student - one that will challenge and enable students to achieve post-secondary goals.
